Airport Shopping at Heathrow!

Yay I’m back in KL after THE most relaxing flight ever due to having an entire row (and pretty much the whole plane) to myself! I arrived at Heathrow airport with ample time to spare before my flight, so I decided to do a bit of shopping.

First I stopped by at Boots to see they had tons of sales and package deals for their cosmetics so of course I dove right in! After much consideration I decided to get a Max Factor Lipfinity 24 Hour Lip Colour and the Colour Elixir Lip Liner in a matching shade!

Lipfinity comes in a set that includes the actual lip colour, in a shade called Spiritual (this pleases me), and a suuuper buttery balm that seals in moisture as the colour is a matte, which is known to be pretty drying. The liquid lip colour smells delish and true to its name, stays on all day and night until I take it off! There are still traces of the original swatch I took from the tester product on my arm that I never bothered to actually remove with makeup remover, and it’s been like four days since I tried it! I’m pretty impressed!

These two combined came up to a total of $15.99, which made me eligible for a Bright Eyed Glamour box set worth $33! Inside were 3 full sized (Not tester sized but FULL SIZED!) products: The Max Factor Eye Luminizer in Light/Medium, Colour Elixir Gloss in Glossy Toffee and the Voluptuous False Lash Effect Mascara in Waterproof black. ABSOLUTE JACKPOT YOU GUYS.

ALL these products are gonna get a ton of use from me, I haven’t tried the mascara or the gloss yet but I’m loving the Eye Luminizer! It’s a perfect match for my skin tone and makes my skin super silky and smooth, I don’t even have to use a primer anymore for my eye makeup! Completely in love with my purchases and winnings haha.

Next up I headed over to Victoria’s Secret, where a Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal was going on! Obviously I couldn’t miss this opportunity even though I have never shopped at VS all my life (I’m more of a LaSenza girl tbh). After checking out the selection of glosses, body sprays and various balms and lotions eligible for the sale, I decided to get two Warm & Cozy body mists and a Beauty Rush gloss in Mocktail Hour.

Why did I get two of the same thing? BECAUSE THESE MISTS SMELL GATDAM DELICIOUS. They smell like warm vanilla cookies and anything that smells like COOKIES I must have at least two! My Beauty Rush gloss was more of a “oml that’s so pretty” kinda purchase, because who doesn’t want sparkly lip gloss with a metallic lip keychain attached?! I haven’t actually tried or even opened the gloss yet, and to be completely honest it’s probably gonna end up one of those items I just keep in my bag because it’s cute and glittery and not much else (a lot like the stacking Sephora lip glosses Marie “lent” me literally a year ago ewps), but I regret absolutely nothing.

So there’s my mini beauty haul from Heathrow Airport! I’m actually looking forward to going back there to see what other deals are on!

DOES IT WERK? | Sunkissed Rapid Tan Mousse

So summer is coming up, and while pretty much everyone I know is manically working out at the gym in the hopes of miraculously achieving the ideal BMI 21 frame, I’m over here stocking up on tanning products because the last time I went back to KL one of Maries uncles was like “Wah Anna so fair now ah?” Tbh I don’t actually know what he said exactly cos I wasn’t there, but it pretty much destroyed my soul because despite my natural inclination to retain fair skin I’m not particularly fond of the “pale in the summer” look. So I was at Body Care perusing their impressive range of self tanning products and eventually settled on Sunkissed’s Rapid Tan mousse, because 1. I know literally nothing about tanning products and wanted to get a brand I was familiar with (I use their bronzer on the regular) and 2. It had a 2015 Beauty Awards Gold Winner sticker on it. I don’t know what this means and it doesn’t say WHICH beauty award, so I’m just gonna assume Beauty Awards is its own thing. ANYWAY. I also got a Velvotan applicator mitt, mostly (okay, solely) because it was pink and had pretty flamingos on it AND had gold shiny lettering. SUPER PRETTY.

I’ve already ripped the wrapping off the tanning mitt and used it once yesterday, though. Only after that did it occur to me to document this momentous occasion. But it cleans up very easily in just water and soap so I’m pretty happy with it! The mousse smells AWESOME, kinda coconutty and Shea buttery plus it’s also meant to have vitamin E and Aloe Vera somewhere in the mix too, which are, as you know, good for the skin and whatnot. Look how fluffy the mousse is tho!

I thought I’d have to stand with my hands and legs apart for the next hour or so, but it actually dries in seconds and darkens upon contact too. It was a bit messy yesterday because I was totally inexperienced and I spent like an hour applying it all over my body, but today I probably took only 15 minutes or so. I was actually able to reach my back too, so if you’re flexible you probably won’t need to ask for assistance.  EXPERT ADVICE: don’t get this stuff up your butt. I did that yesterday and now my various nooks and crannies are a kind of colour I’d like to describe as… Let’s go with burnt sienna. I’d also like to take the opportunity to say it’s best to have a totally smooth, exfoliated face before you do this, because today I have random dry patches on my nose and around my mouth and it’s looking kinda grody cos the mousse is trapped under the skin. I’m actually not too worried about patchiness though, because  I got the Medium tone (I assume Light and Dark are also available options)  and the reason I’m doing this again today after already having applied one layer yesterday, is because after washing it actually leaves a very subtle, very realistic shade only slightly darker than your actual colour. So it’s totally okay if you mess up, it washes off instantly as well and there’s plenty in the 150ml bottle for multiple applications!

Shade comparison on my unfinished leg!

You can see the shade difference here – it’s important to note that the colour you’re at during application is sadly not the colour you will be after a shower! On the plus side though, and I love this part, after just one application my skin tone looked so much more even and smooth compared to before! You can see the colour on the mitt is a lot darker than the dollop of mousse I posted a photo of earlier, as the colour darkens after a few seconds of exposure.

So here’s what I look like before and after application:

I mean I’m pretty damn happy with the results! This stuff also washes off super easily in the shower and doesn’t stain your clothes or towels. And like I said, it dried in seconds so you can put a towel down and relax for about an hour while it develops. Overall I’ll give it a 8/10 because it smells delish, is relatively easy to apply even for a noob and does what it says on the bottle! As for the cons, well it doesn’t say exactly how long it’s meant to last and it’s kinda annoying that I had to use two layers and wait an hour for each application but maybe the Dark variation may have been more suitable! Either way, would defo buy again! Here’s a picture I took previously of part of my Body Care haul, and you can see the pretty Velvotan packaging in the background!

Insta Store Hacks!

EDIT// This post was actually meant to have published months ago, but it didn’t lol so I’m posting it now!

So I’ve been running Moonlit Creatures on Instagram for about a month or so, and although my store hasn’t been around long it’s been super rewarding. I pull in about 100 engaged followers daily and make sales on the regular (although I do expect more in the future). A few friends of mine are thinking of opening their own stores and have contacted me asking for advice or a collaboration, so I’ve decided to put together this article combining my experience in design and marketing in hopes it will help!

Name your products, such as the Sweetheart Collection, or the Death Shriek Collection, whatever floats your goat.
First of all — Sourcing your products

Once you’ve decided what you want to sell, have a look online for wholesalers. You can find bulk deals and job lots on eBay, which is what I do half the time when it comes to purchasing the materials for my jewelry. I highly recommend dealing with only one source at a time, making your orders easier to track, saving on shipping and ensuring they all arrive at the same time and you can open shop right away with a bunch of items instead of just like, 3 things.

Location, location, location!

There are several places you can list your items. Personally I prefer a hosting site such as Wix, Tictail, Etsy, etc. You can try eBay or Amazon, but it looks a lot more professional if you have your own store.

Let’s just say you came across this list of Insta shops. Do you feel compelled to click on any of them?

  • @uniqueee_shop1347
  • @i_LuV_sH0pP1ng_
  • @54.c00l_stuff.82

Keep numbers, underscores and full stops to a minimum. I know you’re tempted to use special characters to change up a handle that’s already been taken, but there are a couple issues with that. First off, how is a customer supposed to remember who tf you are when your username has more numbers than you have followers smh. Secondly – Having a ton of special characters in your user kinda looks like you didn’t really try. It looks like you just went with the first thing you could think of and added a bunch of underscores until “username already exists” stops showing up next to the text field. Pls guys. First impressions and whatnot.

Insta Aesthetics

This is just me, but I like to play it safe by using the same background and decor because this guarantees a clean, clear cut theme. Compare the two samples below:

Need I say more? Your products may be fucking stellar — but if you don’t showcase them in a good light, they’re not gonna sell. Here are some tips I like to keep in mind when shooting my products (on my phone I might add – you don’t need a fancy camera):

  • Use a nice background in your photos. A chopping board makes a beautiful wooden backdrop, or you could purchase some glitter paper for a sparkly finish or even sandpaper and some shells for a beachy theme.
  • Daylight. DAYLIGHT. Why? Because fluorescent lighting isn’t exactly flattering b.
  • Please use the sAMe GOSH DANG filters on all your pics! Look at the second photo above. Look at the mess of filters. It hurt me to make that collage. I feel like I shouldn’t have to tell you why using the same filter on all your photos is gonna be beneficial to your store.

My Peacock Druzy Rings are loving dat natural sunlight!
And here are just a few more tips and tricks!

  • Hashtag the FUCK out of your pics. I know it looks kinda try-hard, but you can rope in at least one or two likes per hashtag (if not more) and Instagram allows up to 30. Don’t just use generic tags such as #instagood #potd #love, take the time to type up a list of specific tags and save them on your phone so you can access them every time you post.
  • Follow like, SO many people. I know I’m starting to sound sell-outy rn but hey, you can sit there with your 6 followers or you can get your thumb out of your butt and use it to find people who might be interested in your store. Apps like Crowdfire are super helpful in enabling you to both follow similar users AND unfollow the basic bitches who unfollowed you.
  • Giveaways and promoter searches can be useful in gaining exposure. However, wait until you have at least 500 or so followers beforehand, otherwise you’ll end up with like 2 entries and o exposure. What you can do, however, is contact someone with a few thousand followers and ask them if they’d like to receive an item from your store in exchange for some shoutouts.

So that’s about it I think! All I have to offer now are my design skillz (email me at if you’d like a logo or avatar or header or whatever) and also my social influence (I’m surayanna on Instagram so hmu if you want me to promote your stuff!). You can also shoot me a DM at my Moonlit Creatures insta account to purchase super cheap ad slots! I just wanna end with a little disclaimer – You can have a successful store without following my guidelines. It’s probably gonna take a bit longer and be a bit harder, but it’s possible. Hopefully some of you find this article helpful though, so thanks for reading aaaaand you can take 10% off your entire order at Moonlit Creatures when you enter the code CREATURES at checkout (; Did I mention you should put up some discount codes? Put up some discount codes. Give back to the peoples. Later taters!

Where I’m At

Hay gais!

So I’ve been super busy moving in and starting my second semester at uni, and now before I knew it I’m already closer to the end of the semester than the start! I’d like to say it’s been super eventful and a ton of fun, but it’s been pretty quiet around here lately especially since I’ve moved to a much nicer part of town (probably the nicest part of town where all the hotels and casinos are!). I had a few ups and downs returning to London from KL and experienced what is described as Seasonal Affective Disorder (also known as SAD lmao) which is basically a bout of depression that tends to hit in the winter months due to seasonal factors such as shortening daylight hours and whatever else. I was actually super down the past month or so since I got back from warm and sunny KL, which seems about normal when I read up on the symptoms… Anyways I feel a lot better now that I actually know what was wrong with me, because initially I thought it was actual depression coming back (I was afflicted with a pretty serious case of depression many years ago and I barely made it out alive) and it just made me feel scared and helpless because of how fucking terrible it was the first time. Luckily there are a few things that can help with SAD, such as daylight therapy lamps that basically shine a super bright light meant to emulate daylight and it’s supposed to trick your hormones into forgetting everything is cold and grey and yucky!

To be fair though, it hasn’t been all that cold and grey and yucky and now that I’m living on the 10th floor I get a fair amount of sunlight even on the days I just lounge around in bed all day hehe. There’s also an awesome little gym on the ground floor which I LOVE, and now I’m hellbent on losing those last few kilos on my road to 45kg (which, I’ll say it again, is a perfectly healthy and normal weight for my height).

What else is new… Oh yeah, I started an online shop called Moonlit Creatures! Caution, this shop is for cute witches and bad bitches ONLY, but feel free to clicky click if you aspire to be at least one of those things. I’ve been having fun making jewelry and although it’s only been open a couple of weeks, I’ve already received nearly 200 likes on the Facebook page, 2300+ followers on Instagram (and counting — I gain about 700 followers a week!) and generated a fair number of local and international sales despite January being the absolute worst month for shopping! So I’m feeling very positive and optimistic!

Here are a few of my fave items from the store!

Making jewelry has been super soothing for me and helps keep me calm, plus I’ve always enjoyed running online stores and it’s probably gonna be good for my CV! I have a lot of time on my hands anyways seeing as I only go to uni a couple times a week because apparently its a thing to pay £11,000 for eight days or learning per month… Anyways. All in all I’m feeling slightly more positive about things than I was like a week ago and I’m quite sure things will start looking even better once the weather warms up a bit PLUS I’m looking forward to my visit back home (again) next month! Let’s just hope I don’t turn up so hard I end up in hospital again!

So that’s about it for now, but you know I never like to end a blog post without giving you guys a little somethin’ somethin’ for reading! So today I’m giving you 10% off Moonlit Creatures when you enter the code CREATURES at checkout! Don’t forget to like and follow on Instagram (@moonlitcreatures) and Facebook (Moonlit Creatures) for more exclusive discount codes and flash sales! Worldwide shipping is flat rate (£3.75) and UK shipping is completely free! You also get free worldwide shipping and a freebie with every £15 purchase because that’s just how cool I am. And now it’s time for me to get back to my fluffy duvet and binge watch Ghost Hunters until I fall asleep. Bye betches!

Ciate Mini Mani Advent | A Nailart Tip!

Oh. My. GOSH. U GUISE. Today I picked up the Ciate Mini Mani Month Advent calendar at TK Maxx for only £10! That’s a whole TWO DOZEN, TWENTY FOUR bottles of nail lacquer and assorted nail art supplies for only £10! I couldn’t believe my luck, the box was a bit beat up and I’m pretty sure I got the only box that didn’t already have half the windows ripped open because people are fucking SAVAGES, but hey, whatevs. I’m good.

So obviously I’m gonna be showing off my haul huehue. I’ve always loved Ciate lacquers and I’d get them from Sephora back in KL, but they cost SO MUCH so I pretty much feel like I’ve just won the lottery right now! Anyways! Here we have the box that contains the advent calendar. It’s pretty plain but definitely festive!

Upon opening the box you’ll find the cute little windows leading up to the little trasures inside. Since Christmas came and went ages ago I decided to just dig in instead of being patient cos ain’t nobadi got time fo dat. But first here’s a look at the back of the box! It shows the 11 guaranteed shades you’ll get plus 13 mystery shades, pretty exciting!

And here’s what the inside looks like! Too cute!

After manually ripping into some of the windows I decided it might just be easier to pop the tab off at the top of each of the sides of the box and pull out the plastic tray that holds the bottles so I didn’t have to open every single window… I’m impatient like that. But there are some nail care tips you don’t wanna miss printed on the inside of the windows!

Those are two of my favourite shades, by the way! The pink glitter shade is Naughty Or Nice and the blue one is called Rollercoaster. And now for the shots everyone has been waiting for! I couldn’t even fit my entire haul in one picture, but just look at these beauties!!

Not only did I get nail lacquer, I also got a bottle of Christmas Tree Caviar Pearls, Jingle Belle Glitter, Miss Mistletoe Sequins, Concrete Base Coat, Black Light Top Coat and Underwear Base Coat. Pictured below are some of my faves!

From Left: Miss Mistletoe Sequins, Jingle Belle Glitter and Butterscotch Lacquer
Rollercoaster, Naughty Or Nice and Blizzard lacquers!

So as you can probably tell I’m still stuck in second grade and I’m way into glitter polishes, and, if you’ve ever had three coats of glitter on your nails, you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to remove! BUT NEVER FEAR, I now have the solution to all your sparkly worries! For super quick and simple removal of glitter lacquer, all you need is some cotton and nail polish remover (obvs) and some tin foil. Tear the cotton into halves lengthwise, soak the pieces in nail polish remover and wrap each piece around your nails. Wrap tin foil around them to keep them in place and prevent them from drying out. Leave for 2-4 minutes, firmly press down on your nail while pulling the cotton and foil and the glitter polish should just slide off! I know it sounds too good to be true, but I’ve done this tons of times and now you no longer need to rip your nails off trying to remove sparkles. You’re super welcome.

Anyways, here are a couple more honorable mentions that I’m actually very happy with. I’m not crazy about the colours in the Christmas Tree Caviar Pearls, but since I’m a sucker for cool textures I’m gonna have to give them a go at some point! I’m also looking forward to trying the Concrete Base Coat, which has little  white grains in it that’s meant to look killer under a matte neutral shade, such as grey or nude.

At some point I’m gonna see if I can get my boyfriend to take me to TK Maxx again so I can pick up more of these boxes so I can do a giveaway! And maybe I’ll make a post of all the nailart designs I can come up with with the shades that came in my Ciate Mini Mani Month Advent.

In other news, I can’t actually believe I currently weigh 49.2kg when I was close to 52kg before I went back to KL 2 or 3 weeks ago. I thought for sure I’d have gained a ton of weight since going home and eating all the super lemak food my grandma made but I guess I’ve been lucky! Still hoping to reach my goal of 45kg before my birthday in February though, and today I received a parcel from Pretty Little Thing that I’m gonna open as a gift to myself when I lose my next 2 or 3kg. Anyways, as always, thanks for reading guys! I hope you enjoy my ramblings! I assume you do otherwise you wouldn’t have made it all the way to the end of my post hehehehe.

Lonely Magpie Haul!

Hi everyone!  I can’t believe how quickly my time in KL has flown and just tomorrow I’ll be heading back to London! On one hand I’m looking forward to seeing my boyfriend again, but on the other hand I’m really gonna be missing the warmth and familiarity of this place. Anyways!

Today I’m reviewing one of my favourite jewelry stores Lonely Magpie. They specialize in gorgeous whimsical creations like the ones I’ll be showing you in a minute! I have plenty of their charm chokers, but they do have some other items as well such as necklaces, rings and anklets. I’m gonna be talking about their chokers because within the first month of discovering Lonely Magpie I already have like… Idk at least 5 or 6 of their chokers hehe.

The first one I bought from them is their Rose Quartz Arrowhead choker with an Ohm charm (£3.99). The charms are interchangeable and you can choose from a variety of cute knick knacks to accompany your pendant. I’m a huge sucker for rose quartz so I was particularly enamoured by this design!

I also got Rose Quartz Heart choker and a pretty little crescent moon charm on an adjustable pink cord. Once again I chose from a selection of charms to put on my pink choker, and I was very happy with the variety they provided!

One thing I have to say though, while these chokers can withstand every day wear, they’re pretty delicate. For example the link on my Rose Quartz Arrowhead pendant has gotten caught on my clothes a couple of times and opened up, causing my pendant to fall off… Luckily I managed to save it every time and reattaching it to the cord isn’t too difficult since the metal used for the link is quite soft and malleable.

Pleased with my first order, I posted a few pictures on Instagram because I was told I could get a £5 voucher for my next order if they reposted my picture on their page, which to my surprise they did! You’re probably thinking £5 isn’t a lot, but with many of their chokers available for a Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal and most of them costing only between £2 and £4 you can actually do a lot with it! The moment I received my £5 discount code I pretty much immediately ordered another batch of chokers. Here they are!

I’m particularly pleased with these babies! The three charm chokers I purchased with the Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal and I have to say they’re absolutely adorable! Perfect little stocking stuffers, I got the Lotus one for myself and the Saturn and Moon & Star ones for Marie and Ruby. They’re all on adjustable cords. The Blue Goldstone pendant is especially beautiful, I love the little sparkles within the gem and they’re very reflective! It’s my current day to day choker, I love it to death!

CYMERA_20151117_123506What else do I have to say about Lonely Magpie… Like I said, they have a great selection and definitely something for everyone. I especially love the ethereal element they put into their collections as that is what drew me to their store in the first place! I can tell their products are made with love and they love their customers as well, offering every returning customer a 10% discount code that comes with their parcels. Their parcels themselves are very nicely packaged, sadly I don’t have any pictures but believe me when I say I’ll give them a A for presentation! Let’s not forget the Free UK Shipping, which is something I LIVE for since I moved to London! I’m definitely looking forward to shopping at Lonely Magpie again and I’m very happy they allowed me to publish this article on them because it’s an absolute honour to have such lovely content on my blog thanks to them!
